Goodness the flowers outside are in full bloom around here and boy are they gorgeous. I am so lucky to live in such a beautiful place with a great community of people. I went to a workshop about microaggressions this evening and it was so enlightening. I had no idea what microaggressions were at all before the workshop, in fact I hadn't even heard the name!  I am so happy I had the opportunity to go because the information I learned and shared with others was so constructive and helpful. I came away from the workshop really thinking about what I say and do and what others say and do and how it affects each other, our communities, and our world. I know I must sound pretty cheesy and new age, but I honestly think that what this workshop had to offer is something everyone should experience. I think it's important to take moments to be self-reflective and think about things critically, especially in the time we are living now. We are living in an age of technology and progression and yet many forget that racism, sexism, genderism, transphobia, and classism are still here. Often they are not directly in our faces but subtle or deeply engrained and hidden beneath the surface. I'm very lucky to even have the opportunity to learn about these things and take the time to think critically. Just a little food for thought.

If you don't know what microaggressions are check out the Wikipedia page HERE.

Take a look at a really cool project about spreading awareness of microaggressions HERE.
